SUMMARY:Community Lifesavers Training: Restart a Heart Day
DESCRIPTION:Community Lifesavers is a not-for-profit volunteer run community interest company with the sole purpose of training the public\, being able to SAVE A LIFE following sudden cardiac arrest – turning BYSTANDERS INTO LIFESAVERS. \nA series of short\, 1 hour sessions will be running throughout Friday 17th October from 10am\, including short presentations and demonstrations\, training participants in essential lifesaving skills. \n  \nIncluding participants practising their learning on manikins: \n\nCPR\nUsing a defibrillator\n\n  \nPlease note that we are not offering First Aid training but training people in these essential lifesaving skills to be able to come forward in the event of an emergency. \n  \nSessions are free to attend but donations are welcome on the day.

SUMMARY:Theatre Workshop for Adults
DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb). DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb). DESCRIPTION:Get dancing at a fund-raising ceilidh in aid of the 51st Whitstable May Day Jack-in-the-Green procession! \n\n\nWhether you’re a complete beginner or super experienced\, this fun social dance night will be led by expert dance callers Kerry Fletcher and James Gaunt\, who will get you up and dancing to great live music from the fabulous Climax Ceilidh Band. If you’ve never been to a ceilidh (or barn dance) before\, give it a go and you’ll be hooked! The live caller walks you through the dance and tells you what to do – so no skill needed\, and no partner required\, though feel free to bring one. \nAnd as it’s Hallowe’en weekend\, why not wear your spookiest outfit? There’ll be a prize for the scariest dancer! \nThe annual Jack-in-the-Green procession\, a revival of an old May custom\, celebrates its 51st consecutive year in 2026. Colourful characters including Morris dancers and musicians lead Jack in all his greenery through the town to the castle\, with a herd of hooden horses and other beasts guiding the way. This ceilidh is to raise funds to allow us to continue to put on this joyful event! SUMMARY:Theatre Workshop for Adults
DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb).
