DESCRIPTION:Get dancing at a fund-raising ceilidh in aid of the 51st Whitstable May Day Jack-in-the-Green procession! \n\n\nWhether you’re a complete beginner or super experienced\, this fun social dance night will be led by expert dance callers Kerry Fletcher and James Gaunt\, who will get you up and dancing to great live music from the fabulous Climax Ceilidh Band. If you’ve never been to a ceilidh (or barn dance) before\, give it a go and you’ll be hooked! The live caller walks you through the dance and tells you what to do – so no skill needed\, and no partner required\, though feel free to bring one. \nAnd as it’s Hallowe’en weekend\, why not wear your spookiest outfit? There’ll be a prize for the scariest dancer! \nThe annual Jack-in-the-Green procession\, a revival of an old May custom\, celebrates its 51st consecutive year in 2026. Colourful characters including Morris dancers and musicians lead Jack in all his greenery through the town to the castle\, with a herd of hooden horses and other beasts guiding the way. This ceilidh is to raise funds to allow us to continue to put on this joyful event! SUMMARY:Theatre Workshop for Adults
DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb). DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb). DESCRIPTION:The Fisher Social Club is a peer led group for those in Whitstable and surrounding areas that would like a chat and a cuppa’. \nThis is a free to attend no booking necessary group\, which meets weekly at the Centre on Mondays 1 – 3pm; in the lounge. \nThis group does not offer support for mental health\, however our staff and volunteers can sign post you to services which do. \nWe look forward to welcoming you.

SUMMARY:Theatre Workshop for Adults
DESCRIPTION:A friendly drop-in Theatre Workshop for Adults. Each class will begin with a warm-up and then we will work together as an ensemble on Voice\, Movement\, Scripted scenes and Improvisation to grow your acting skills and self-confidence. Please wear clothes you can move in. All abilities and ages welcome (18+). \nEmma Dewhurst is a professional actress with a long and varied career in theatre\, TV and film. She has worked with a number of exceptional theatre practitioners\, including directors Richard Eyre (National Theatre)\, Roger Michell (Almeida Theatre) and Nancy Meckler (Shared Experience). In 2020 she became an accredited Transformational Life Coach and has also since earned a qualification in Group Coaching. \nEmma is also an experienced teacher and facilitator of groups. She was a Visiting Tutor at Lewisham College on their BTEC drama course; led drama workshops for River Drama\, a weekly group for SEN children; and more recently has combined her acting and coaching skills to facilitate communication and public speaking skills for young adults. \nEmma’s style is warm\, friendly and inclusive. All ages are welcome (18+) to the Workshops and although this is a drop-in class\, so you can join at any time\, a steady group has emerged from the more regular participants. \nThis is a ‘Pay What You Feel’ community class supported by Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. Donations are appreciated\, with a suggested minimum of £5\, but please don’t let lack of means prevent you from attending! \nPlease wear clothes you can move in. \nSpring Term 2026 dates: Tuesday 6 Jan to 31 March (with no class on 17 Feb).
