What We Do
For over thirty years it has been our aim to preserve the mental, physical and emotional health and stability of the local community without prejudice. We do this by working to ensure that an expansive and holistic range of activities are available from the centre.
Our work is driven by a desire to be:
We have a jam packed programme of events happening every day at the Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre. From support groups, charities, counselling services and clubs and groups for the community the Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre is a hub of activity providing opportunity for the community to learn new skills, make new friends, keep fit and access support. Our event spaces are hired out for both private events and regular bookings from local businesses and groups.
Profit from the hire of our event spaces allow us to provide free activities to the community. We are also committed to providing 15 hours of free hire time to allow non-profit community groups and activities to deliver support and opportunity to those in the community who might otherwise find it hard to take part.
We are more than just a venue. We are a community space designed to be accessible and appealing to the wide and diverse community around us. From stay and play toddler groups, animation workshops for teens and bereavement support groups, we aim to support one another’s needs and interests. We also offer reduced hire fees to charities working in the local area and for new businesses looking to launch something for the benefit of the community.
