The Whitstable Umbrella Community Centre is able to serve the community thanks to its wonderful and industrious volunteers.
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give give something back to their local community and connect with others who need support, for others it is the social aspect that appeals – a place to integrate with your locale and make new friends, for some it is an opportunity to improve their employability; to learn new skills and build on their knowledge. Whatever the reason you choose to get involved, volunteering is a rewarding and (sometimes!) challenging experience that will enrich your life.
“If you’d like to be a bigger part of your community, then do think about getting involved and volunteering.”
We are currently looking for volunteers to help with the following activities:
Community Fridge Co-ordinators
The Umbrella Centre has been working with a core group of volunteers to get a community fridge project off the ground in recent months. Volunteers have created links with local restaurants. supermarkets and food businesses. Food that is still good to eat but won’t be used is stored in the community fridge for members of the community to take at their leisure.
If you are passionate about food waste and the impact on our environment drop in to the office or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Food Friends cooks
We are looking for home cooks who might be willing to deliver a spare portion of dinner to a local neighbour on a regular basis.
Contact Anna email@example.com to find out more.
