The Trouser Trumpets #BuyTheUmbrella Fundraiser

Fri September 5 @ 20:00 - 23:00
£10

Join us for a raucous, brass-fuelled night of live music and dancing as The Trouser Trumpets blow the roof off the Umbrella Centre! Expect high-energy tunes, big horns, and an even bigger atmosphere.

After The Trouser Trumpets, we’re keeping the energy going with the Austerity Disco – a no-frills, all-thrills party powered by community spirit and unstoppable grooves.

This isn’t just a night out – it’s a night filled with fundraising for our #BuyTheUmbrella Campaign.

All proceeds go towards the #BuyTheUmbrella campaign, raising vital funds to help the community purchase the Umbrella Centre building and secure its future as a thriving, independent space for everyone.

THE TROUSER TRUMPETS:

Hailing from Whitstable, UK, The Trouser Trumpets are an original musical comedy troupe and danceband straddling the criminally neglected gap between Jazz, Music Hall, Vaudeville, and Stand-Up. They’re as much performance as they are party!

From Bonzos to Zappa, they channel a wild tradition of eccentric musical genius, but don’t mistake them for your average novelty danceband with vocal refrain. Their set is a glorious mash of musical absurdity, brass-driven grooves, and unpredictable comic flair.

“To describe The Trouser Trumpets is slightly more difficult than painting the taste of water” – and yet, once you’ve seen them, you’ll never forget them.

Expect blaring horns, questionable choreography, and a night of full-throttle fun. Dance, laugh, and lose yourself in the joyful chaos!

AUSTERITY DISCO:

They’re loud, they’re loose, and they’ve got lyrics that’ll make you smirk – Austerity Disco are not your average rock band.

From the band’s eponymous song “Austerity Disco” (a cry for nations oppressed presented from the point of view of an anonymous oppressor) to the whimsical “Marjorie Stalker” (a tale of tight rope walking and the usefulness of alcohol) the band like to have fun and the lyrics are (probably) nothing to be taken too seriously as long as the music rocks and grooves.

The debut albums from Austerity Disco – a four piece alt rock outfit from the Garden of En-gar-land with a sense of justice and a sense of inhumour.
From the barely concealed anger of the eponymous “Austerity Disco” to the 1980s cop-show inspired “Rosco and Geoff” there is something here for everyone.

Austerity Disco are Tony Hernandez (Vocals/Guitar)

Matt Smith (Lead Guitar)

Charlie Place (Bass)

Robriguez Hendriks (Drums).

They don’t take themselves too seriously, and they don’t expect you to either — just turn up, tune in, and enjoy the show!

Get ready for gritty grooves and tongue-in-cheek anthems – Austerity Disco are here to crank up the volume and the vibes
